Arkansas man works to recover, preserve lost history

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – A man from Benton said hunting history is a part of his life and he wants to share it with others.

Brandon Sutton said all of his finds have a story behind them which is why it’s important to seek out history.

“It’s a God-given gift I believe, and my purpose is to recover history,” Sutton said.

It’s a passion Sutton said started at a young age. It led to him being able to travel around the state to unearth lost history and give some of his finds to museums and historical societies.

While at the historic Park Hotel in Hot Springs which reopens in 2025, Sutton said you can find history anywhere.

“When I find something on the surface or dig something up, I now have a tangible piece of history that I can share with the world and a story to go along with it,” Sutton said.

Sutton said every time he finds something, he has the same feeling of excitement. Recently he was able to find Chris Walker’s missing Razorback championship ring during an estate sale while searching through old boxes.

“Nothing brings me more joy than to return something that they lost,” he said. “It was actually stolen from his mother’s house. Fortunately, I was able to find it.
