Ariel Winter Just Debuted Red Hair on Law and Order: SVU , and Fans Barely Recognized Her

Ariel Winter isn't timid about spicing up her hair color — in fact, just a few months ago the actress ditched her dark brown strands for a bold, fiery red hue. She's also experimented with hot pink in the past (remember Coachella, anyone?), as well as navy blue and blonde. The actress's latest hair color, however — a golden strawberry blonde shade — is proving to be her most shocking one yet.

The 21-year-old star debuted her new lighter look on October 3 in an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, in which she played a young woman named Reagan who wakes up after a night of partying believing she was sexually assaulted. Not only was it surprising for fans to see Winter play a completely different character from Alex Dunphy on Modern Family, but folks were shocked to see her with such a decidedly different hair color than usual. Anyone who watches the hit ABC sitcom knows Winter's character has rich, dark chocolate brown hair, so needless to say, switching to strawberry blonde is a big change.

Some fans didn't even recognize the actress with her new red hair color. One user tweeted, "NOW I remember Ariel Winter! I just didn’t recognize her without the dark hair 🙈 OOPS! She’s a dang good actress!" while another commented, "Ariel Winter looks so different with red hair."
