Arie Luyendyk Jr. Got Shady and Said ‘Bachelor’ Stars Are “Set Up to Fail”

From Cosmopolitan

  • Arie Luyendyk Jr. says Bachelor leads are “set up to fail” and the show is a “recipe for disaster.”

  • Arie is currently married to his runner-up Lauren Burnham.

Arie Luyendyk Jr. is out here dishing on The Bachelor, and apparently he has some thoughts on all the backlash Peter Weber received during his recent season. Side note: fans were largely unimpressed by Peter, who got engaged to Hannah Ann only to break things off, date Madison Prewett for two days, slide into Hannah Brown’s DMs, and then start dating Kelley Flanagan.

“It’s hard to comment on it because people commented on our season, but if you’re not there and not in the situation, it’s really hard to place blame or to cast judgment, I would say,” Arie told Us Weekly. “And I’ve got to say as a Bachelor, I feel like you’re almost set up to fail. It’s, like, a recipe for disaster. So, if there is a normal happy ending, like a Sean Lowe, Catherine ending, you’re almost surprised.”

Meanwhile, Arie’s wife Lauren Burnham added, “There’s so much that you don’t see that goes into it. So even if [Peter] looks like the worst Bachelor, he probably wasn’t as bad as he seems. There’s probably things that happened that caused him to do those things.”

Peter and Kelley currently seem pretty happy despite all the insane drama that led to them getting together, so here’s to everything working out for the best?
