Ariana Grande Wore Purple Eye Shadow and Blonde Pigtails at the MTV Video Music Awards

This Sunday night, we're all tuning into the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards, and while things this year are a bit different due to the pandemic (there's no live audience, for one), there's one thing that remains the same: stunning beauty looks. So far we have seen some dazzling manicures, some pretty dope face coverings, and a show-stopping performance from Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande.

Grande and Gaga performed their song "Rain on Me," which has already won two awards for Best Song of the Year and Best Collaboration. The song itself is a jam and worthy of praise, but we at Allure also like to focus on the beauty, and Grande's on-stage look is one for the books.

Earlier this week, the singer showed off her new ombré blonde pigtails on Instagram, and while we thought it was just a new fall look, it seems it was more like a sneak peek for her VMAs performance.

She wore similarly high ombré blonde pigtails with a side-swept bang to join Gaga on stage for the performance. As for the makeup, her makeup artist kept the focus on her eyes since the lower part of her face was covered with a mask. Grande's eyes were swept with a shimmery lilac eye shadow that complemented her purple dress, then finished off with a dramatic wing and rhinestones on her lower lash line and brow bone. 

Gaga also kept the purple theme going with her look. She wore a purple wig and similar eye makeup to Grande. We aren't too sure who is responsible for Grande's VMAs look, but we do know that makeup artist Sarah Tanno used Haus Laboratories, Gaga's very own makeup brand, to create her look. So if the duo is wearing the is the same shade of purple on the eyes, Grande may be wearing Haus as well.
