Ariana Grande Won Her First Grammy at Grammys 2019 And She's Not Even There

A queen!

Ariana Grande might still be basking in the record-breaking glow of the recently released Thank U, Next, but 2018's Sweetener just earned her a major music accolade. After earning multiple 2019 Grammy nominations, the "7 Rings" singer picked up her first Grammy win of her career.

After pulling out of attending and performing at the 2019 Grammys due to a disagreement with producers regarding her planned performance, the singer took home the award for Best Pop Vocal Album, Billboard reports.

Following the news, Ari celebrated the "wild and beautiful moment," writing a note on Instagram to fans. "I know i’m not there tonight (trust, i tried and still truly wished it had worked out tbh) and i know i said i try not to put too much weight into these things .... but f*\ck ,"she wrote. "This is wild and beautiful. thank you so much. i love u @pharrell @scooterbraun @allisonjamiekaye every human being at @republicrecords @awsuki @ilya_music Max Martin @tbhits @victoriamonet @socialhouse @recordingacademy & the voters." In an additional tweeted note, she also thanked her fans, writing, "but mostly thank y’all for being my main source of joy and inspiration always."

News of Ariana's win comes after the singer made the decision to skip tonight's ceremony. As she explained in multiple tweets made on February 7, the "Thank U, Next" performer had felt her planned performance was being "stifled" by the Grammys. "I offered 3 different songs," she wrote, refuting a claim made by Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich that the singer felt it was "too late" to complete a performance. "It’s about collaboration. it’s about feeling supported. it’s about art and honesty. not politics. not doing favors or playing games. it’s just a game y’all.. and i’m sorry but that’s not what music is to me. Hope that helps everyone understand my decision. i am still grateful for the acknowledgement this year."
