Ariana Grande Wears Earrings in Her Hair in the New “7 Rings” Video

Hair accessories like ribbons and sparkly barrettes have been enjoying a major moment, and Allure's digital hair editor, Jihan Forbes, doesn't see that moment ending anytime soon. "Something tells me we're about to see folks go all out and get really creative with hair accessories," she recently predicted — and I'm kind of freaked out about her psychic powers because that's exactly what Ariana Grande did in her new video for the song "7 Rings."

Amassing millions of views in just a few hours, the video shows Grande wearing a few different hairstyles, including her signature super-long, super-high ponytail — with and without a ribbon at the base. But while the song mentions all the diamond rings she's bought, Grande must have had a few too many diamond earrings on set to wear on just her ears, because it appears a pair ended up in her hair.

Grande is seen crawling on a kitchen counter with rooty pink hair, half of it down in a long, straight style and half of it up in space buns that resemble the cat-ear headbands she's so fond of. Secured on those buns as if they were actual ears is a pair of extravagant earrings with five arched rows of diamonds that give way to dangling, draped chains of more diamonds. (I mean, they could be rhinestones, but the song is about spending money, so they're at least supposed to be diamonds.) She even wears traditional (but also diamond-covered) barrettes beneath them because, as previously mentioned, hair accessories are having a moment.

These earring-bedazzled buns aren't the only way Grande got creative with jewels for her "7 Rings" beauty. One especially pink look is topped off with a gem — probably a diamond — in the middle of her upper lip. (It's a very cool idea, but I would be in constant fear of accidentally swallowing it.)

It makes perfect sense that this video would have a few bold beauty looks. Although the song is arguably about the joys of being financially secure enough to buy whatever the hell you want, the lyrics are full of beauty references. In addition to mentioning lashes and tattoos, she says, "My gloss is poppin'" (a throwback to Lil Mama) and, "My smile is beamin', my skin is gleamin'," even cheekily admitting to wearing hair extensions when she says, "You like my hair? Gee, thanks, just bought it."
