Ariana Grande has shared a candid – and incredibly rare – video with fans in response to concerns over her appearance, both recently and throughout her decade-long career.

"You have talked a lot about it [my body] over the past decade or longer so I'd like to join in this time," she told her 32.1 million followers on TikTok.

"I know personally for me, the body that you have been comparing my current body to was the unhealthiest version of my body," the 29-year-old said. "I was on a lot of antidepressants and drinking on them and eating poorly and at the lowest point of my life when I looked the way you consider my healthy but that in fact wasn’t my healthy."

Ariana went on to emphasise that whilst she knows she "shouldn't have to explain" herself, she hoped that something "good" might come from "having an openness and some kind of vulnerability."

"Healthy can look different," she added, before saying that "you never know what someone is going through" and so we should all "be gentle with each other and with yourselves."

The singer ended her video by telling her followers: "I just wanted to extend some love your way and tell you that you’re beautiful no matter what phase you're in."

Ariana's message was well received by fans, who took to the comments section on TikTok to praise her. "Absolutely love this. No one deserves to have their body commented on especially when you don’t truly know the person. Thank you Ariana," one person said, as another wrote: "Needed to hear all of this today. Thank you for sharing some love."

Erm, I think we can all agree how refreshing it is to see celebrities having these kind of open conversations about their bodies, which also serve as a reminder that everyone is different and there's no one-size-fits-all policy when it comes to health and beauty! What's more, weight is just one indicator of someone's health, and by far the be all and end all.
