Ariana Grande Seemingly Takes a Dig at Pete Davidson in Her "Positions" Lyrics

Ariana Grande is here to save 2020. Last week, the singer teased her new album and now, just a few days later and she has already blessed us with the first song. "Positions," the title track on the album, is all about getting serious in a relationship. So, obviously fans think it's about Ari's current bae, real estate agent Dalton Gomez, who she's been getting closer and closer with in quarantine. Let's take a look at the lyrics, provided by Genius, and see what else we can dig up from this already iconic song.

Ariana is seemingly opening up the song by saying how lucky she feels to have Dalton in her life. She actually had a similar line in her song "Pete Davidson" that said, "Universe must have my back/Fell from the sky into my lap," so she has used this trope before.

Speaking of Pete, many think the second line is a jab at him. Ari doesn't want to repeat what happened with Pete with Dalton. In the song, the singer slices the word "repeat" to really hit the "Pete" sound.

Ariana is saying here that she will do anything to make the relationship work. She will literally jump through hoops. In the music video for the song, we see Ariana as the President of the United States and the many "positions" she has to take on to fill that role.

Some also think the line "cookin' in the kitchen" is a dig at Cardi B for her line in "WAP" that goes, "I don't cook, I don't clean/But let me tell you how I got this ring."
