Ariana Grande made headlines and upset a handful of people on Twitter when she and Piers Morgan met and talked in Los Angeles this week. Last night, she addressed some of her critics on Twitter in what became an emotional series of tweets explaining her good intentions.

For context, Grande took down Morgan, a right-wing presenter on Good Morning Britain who has a history of making sexist remarks, on Twitter back in November. Morgan had shamed Little Mix for appearing nude with words social media critics had written about them on their bodies on their new single art. Grande wrote to him, "I use my talent AND my sexuality all the time because I choose to. women can be sexual AND talented. naked and dignified. it’s OUR choice. & we will keep fighting til people understand. I say this w all due respect but thank u, next."

"Also @piersmorgan, I look forward to the day you realize there are other ways to go about making yourself relevant than to criticize young, beautiful, successful women for everything they do," she continued in a second tweet. "I think that’ll be a beautiful thing for you and your career or what’s left of it."

Morgan and Grande ended up running into each other in Los Angeles Tuesday night. Grande tweeted a thank you to Morgan after meeting her and then explained to a fan what happened. "well............ we bumped into each other. at a restaurant. And I decided to sit with him and we spoke for a while," she wrote. "I think some progress was made! Turns out face to face discussions are a bit kinder and gentler, even if you do indeed disagree. :)"

On Wednesday morning, Morgan tweeted a selfie of them, writing, "So... we bumped into each other in a LA restaurant, she joined me for ‘a chat’ & 2 hours later we were still chatting. We laughed, we argued, she cried, I nearly did, the drinks flowed & we bonded. Turns out we really like each other. Weird. Thank u ⁦@ArianaGrande⁩ - next?"

It was shortly after those posts spread that Grande started getting attacked for befriending Morgan even after he attacked Little Mix. Grande explained they talked about that and maintained she had good intentions. "I am a peaceful but passionate person, and I will kindly say everything on my mind to a person’s face if I have the chance. Which I did. I don’t understand what is so evil about having conversations w people. In what world did I excuse what he has said?"

"In fact that’s why I sat down with him in the first place," she continued. "I saw an opportunity to pick someone so opposite’s brain and try to talk some sense into them which I understand is highly unlikely but I will not apologize for trying. That’s all."

Grande was accused of being a "complacent" white woman by one user, and she responded to that tweet. "Nah, I was anything but complacent in our conversation that none of u heard. It saddens me that u’d assume that just because I have hope that a person can change. I won’t stop having conversations w people I disagree w when I see the opportunity to. Hope u would’ve done the same."

She explained why she wasn't going to ignore the criticisms either. "Nah it’s just important to me. I’m not tryna be misunderstood when it’s of this much importance tbh."

And then she capped it off by asserting that she knows she's not a "fucking miracle worker" when it comes to changing the mindsets of people like Morgan. "Like.... do people think I think I succeeded and that I’m some kind of fucking miracle worker? Fuck no. Are u all insane? Bruh I just wanted to try. And speak my mind. I try my best to have faith in people. as hard as it is. Anyway....... goodnight."
