Ariana Grande Releases "Thank U, Next" Behind the Scenes Video Part 1

OK my heart is melting.

Ariana Grande’s smash hit “thank u, next” is clearly the gift that keeps on giving. Between simply blessing fans with the breakup anthem of 2018 along with creating the music video of teen movie dreams, you’d think that would be more than enough — but Ari has plenty of additional surprises in store.

Early in the morning on Sunday, December 2, the singer-songwriter shared the first BTS clip from filming the video. And yes, you read that right: the first clip. In another tweet, Ariana referred to the video as “behind the scenes part one,” meaning there’s even more to come. Who needs to sleep anyway?!

Ariana’s one-minute BTS video is packed with cute outtakes from “thank u, next,” complete with her many costume changes as she switched between iconic roles such as Elle Woods and Regina George. At the beginning of the clip, you can see Ariana’s huge smile as she refers to “thank u, next” as her first number-one single (!!) and there are plenty of sweet moments, like a hug between the singer and Jennifer Coolidge, and lots of closeups on “Bruiser Woods.” Blink, and you might miss the shot of Ari’s sparkly shoes during the “Bend-n-Snap” — and when I say sparkly, I mean KiraKira level shimmer.

But arguably the cutest moment comes right at the end of the video, when we see Ariana with her Victorious costar Matt Bennett, who portrayed Cliff from Bring It On during the iconic teeth brushing bathroom scene. The two stars are seen hugging and laughing, with Ari saying “Oh Matty, making things weird since 2009.” Ummm OK they are the cutest.

And plenty of fans would agree. “Our hearts are melting at this part!” one person wrote on Twitter. Another fan replied to say: “Matt and u are adorable,” while this Arianator tweeted: “I love this friendship so much.”

Given that this seems to be the first of a few (many?) BTS videos, it seems as though there’s even more sweet tidbits in store for fans. Ari also hinted that another clip would reveal “the cutest / funniest sound” that Troye Sivan made when she pushed him (all in good fun of course) during filming. One thing is for sure: “thank u, next” is an epic holiday present, wrapped in sparkly paper, with a huge red bow — and the magic doesn’t seem to be ending any time soon.
