Ariana Grande Prophesied That She'd Marry Pete Davidson 3 Years Ago

"I know you know that you're my soulmate and all that."

The whirlwind romance and engagement of Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson has seemingly captivated fans around the world this summer. Their relationship has been in the spotlight since their first public outing as a couple, and the buzz around them hasn’t slowed down one bit. However, the Pariana romance may not be as much of a whirlwind as we think — it turns out Ariana had a vision of their future coupling several years ago.

While chatting with Jimmy Fallon on Thursday night's episode of The Tonight Show, Ariana talked about her newly-released, long-anticipated album Sweetener. Of course, during the talk, Jimmy asked how she and Pete met, and that's when Ariana revealed that she actually predicted a while ago that she’d be marrying Pete.

“We met on SNL two or three years ago,” Ariana told Jimmy. “We never exchanged numbers, we weren't even friends for the longest time. I had the biggest crush in the world on him for a long time, like forever. My friends used to make fun of me for it.” Jimmy then asked, “And you never said anything to him?”

“No, of course not. I figured, whatever,” Ariana said. “I left his writer's room when were writing skits for this show and my tour manager was in the hallway — and I'm not like a crush-y person. I don't have crushes on people I don't know. But I left and I like jokingly said to my tour manager, I said, 'I'm marrying him, 100%. I'm literally marrying him.' We weren't even friends. I didn't even see him at the after party!” Talk about foresight.

Ariana also shared that she wrote the song “Pete Davidson” from Sweetener about a week after the two started hanging out, and said the track could have been called, bluntly, “This is About Pete Davidson.” (We’re glad she picked the simpler title.) She also shared that Pete loves the song, which, of course he does.

The lyrics of “Pete Davidson,” meanwhile, make it obvious that Ariana knew this relationship was going to be significant. “I thought you into my life, whoa/Look in my mind, yeah/No better place or a time/Look how they align/Universe must have my back/Fell from the sky into my lap,” she sings. “And I know you know that you're my soulmate and all that/I’m like ooh, ooh/My whole life got me ready for you.”

I'm not crying, you're crying.
