She wasn't at the ceremony, but she wore it anyway.

Ariana Grande has made a frequent habit of packing her music with references to the people, memories, and even pop culture moments that matter to her. And now some fans have noted that she may have done the same with her choice of Grammy night attire.

Although Ariana didn't attend the ceremony, she showed off a custom Zac Posen gown on Instagram, and many believed it looked straight out of a fairytale. In fact, some fans think the gown's Cinderella-inspired design might have been purposeful, Buzzfeed pointed out. As noted by social media, Mac Miller had previously written a song about Ariana called "Cinderella," and many believe her dress may have been a tribute to the late rapper.

Some on social media put the fashionable clues together, writing, "I think Ariana wore a Cinderella looking dress as a hidden tribute to Mac" and "Ariana was supposed to wear a beautiful blue dress to the Grammys if she attended, that seemed to resemble Cinderella's dress and it makes me wonder whether it was because of Mac Miller's song 'Cinderella', which was written for her."

Ariana hasn't yet confirmed whether the dress was a nod to Mac, but she did spend the evening with Mac's dog Myron. The singer took a break from her 'gram fashion spread to post a video of her having some fun with the pup. She later fell asleep with the dog, writing, "It’s me your tiny, highly emotional, italian, and now grammy award winning friend. i’m super tarnished lol. but super grateful. thank u for everything. myron is in my arms n he says hi as well."

Ariana Grande may have decided to skip the 2019 Grammys, but that didn't stop her from showing off some seriously fantastical red carpet attire. After announcing that she wouldn't be performing or attending the ceremony on February 10, the "Thank U, Next" singer did as only she could and turned her Instagram feed into a photoshoot.

Fresh off her Grammy win for Best Pop Vocal Album, Ari appeared to be in a celebratory mood, and shared a number of images of her magical Zac Posen gown. "When @zacposen makes u a custom gown it doesn’t matter if you’re singing or not 🌫 .... thank u," she wrote.

Her custom dress appeared to be straight out of a fairy tale, with the performer showing off a billowing light blue gown. Cinderella vibes, anyone? She posed for a number of photos, including a sleeping photo (much like her pattern of album covers), a video that had her trying to escape Myron, and a close up shot of her dazzling accessories. For her jewelry, Ariana wore Borgioni opal diamond earrings and a custom Butani diamond choker necklace that was worth more than $380,000 and featured more than 1000 fancy cut diamonds.

As she previously explained, alleged creative differences between Ariana and the Grammys producers caused her to reconsider attending and performing at Sunday's show. She disputed claims made by Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich that it "was too late for her to pull something together," explaining that she felt her creativity was being "stifled." In a series of tweets made on February 7, the singer detailed her decision to skip the event, writing, "I offered three different songs. It’s about collaboration. It’s about feeling supported. It’s about art and honesty. Not politics. Not doing favors or playing games. It’s just a game y’all.. and I’m sorry but that’s not what music is to me. Hope that helps everyone understand my decision. I am still grateful for the acknowledgement this year."
