Ariana Grande Joked About Marrying Pete Davidson When They Met Two Years Ago

Ariana Grande appeared on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" and shared that she had joked about marrying Pete Davidson after she first met him on SNL.

Ariana Grande has a lot to celebrate right now: Her latest album, Sweetener, dropped today, and she gave fans a little preview by running through the track list with Jimmy Fallon last night. She also dished about her engagement to Pete Davidson, to whom she dedicated a song on the new album.

The biggest reveal, though, was that she predicted she'd marry him two years ago, when they first met on Saturday Night Live. Grande hosted SNL back in 2016, and she left the show with a huge crush on the comedian. "We never, like, exchanged numbers or anything. We weren't even friends for a long time, but I had the biggest crush in the whole world on him the whole time, like, forever," she told Jimmy Fallon. "My friends used to make fun of me."

He'd made such an impression on her, in fact, that she even joked to her tour manager, Roshad Ismail, that she was going to marry him.

"I left his writer's room when we were writing skits and stuff for the show, and my tour manager Roshad was in the hallway," she told Fallon. "And I'm not a crush-y person, I don't have, like, crushes on people, I don't know. I'm not crush-y, but I left and I jokingly said to my tour manager, I was like, 'I'm marrying him, 100 percent.' I was like, 'I'm literally marrying him.'"

She was right—Davidson proposed after the couple had just been dating for a few weeks. It may seem like a whirlwind on the outside, but Davidson says he was immediately smitten too. In a GQ profile published yesterday, Davidson says he knew he was going to marry Grande from the start. He even started browsing rings right after they began dating.

"The day I met her, I was like, 'Hey, I'll marry you tomorrow,'" Davidson said. "She was calling my bluff. I sent her a picture [of engagement rings]. I was like, 'Do you like any of these?' She was like, 'Those are my favorite ones,' and I was like, 'Sick.'"

In addition to sharing sweet intel about her fiancé, Grande also bopped along to a few of her favorite new songs on Sweetener, which has, of course, received Davidson's stamp of approval.
