Ariana Grande Gave an Inspiring Speech at Charlottesville Unity Concert

She was joined by other artists for a night of "music and unity."

Ariana Grande joined a slew of other artists including Pharrell Williams, the Dave Matthews Band, Justin Timberlake and others on stage at a benefit concert for Charlottesville over the weekend. Before performing, Ariana gave a speech thanking everyone for coming out, and saying how proud she is to be a part of a generation that is adamant about creating change.

"Thank you guys so much for having me tonight, I just wanted to thank you guys for coming together, and I just wanted to say really quickly how proud I am to be a part of a generation that is so passionate about creating a change and for making things better," she said. "To be a part of a generation that won't be silent, that refuses to be silent, I'm so proud. So thank you, I love you, keep using your voices and making this a safer place for each other. Let's celebrate each other and our differences, and let's have a good a*s time tonight, let's go."

All donations to the Concert for Charlottesville Fund were given to the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation. Beneficiaries include of the fund include the victims of the events that happened in Charlottesville during August, as well as families, first responders, and "organizations dedicated to healing, justice and unity."

In August, white nationalists gathered to rally for their beliefs, which included nods to the Nazi ideals, and their desire to "unite the right." One counter-protester was killed by a driver who drove into the crowd and 19 were injured.
