Ariana Grande Debuted Her New Collaboration with Nicki Minaj

The light is coming, indeed.

Ariana Grande officially confirmed what fans had previously speculated, and debuted her brand new collaboration with Nicki Minaj during a performance on Saturday (June 2).

Although Nicki wasn't on hand to perform alongside Ariana during her Wango Tango appearance, the "No Tears Left to Cry" singer officially unveiled the pair's song which will appear on Ariana's album Sweetener. The track titled "The Light Is Coming" was previously shared via a brief video teaser on Ari's social media, but Saturday's performance, which was also livestreamed, gave fans a more complete peek of the song.

Before sharing the new song, Ariana told the audience that she was nervous about performing it, 102.7 KIISM FM reported. She went on to confirm the track's official release date, saying, "I'm putting out a new album in August, and I wanted to tell you the pre-order goes up this month on the 20th. And on the 20th you get a new song called 'The Light Is Coming' which features my big sister Nicki Minaj, and we wanted to give you a little preview of it tonight. I'm so nervous. Let's go." Ariana later took to her Instagram Stories to confirm the news of a pre-order date, sharing a selfie that summed up her feelings regarding the evening, including "i'm so lucky and happy and grateful" and "y'all have no idea how happy u make me."

This isn't the first time that Ariana and Nicki have worked together on a musical collaboration, and social media has given their full support of the duo. "It’s such a summer bop," one user declared in a tweet. "THE LIGHT IS COMING SOUNDS PHENOMENAL I CAN’T WAIT," another person excitedly proclaimed. One fan even reminded others to "save your coins" for the new album, writing, "ARIANA DID NOT COME TO PLAY I REPEAT ARIANA DID NOT COME TO PLAY."
