  • Ariana Grande took her Sweetener World Tour to Pittsburgh last night, which is where Mac Miller was born and raised.

  • The concert became somewhat of an emotional tribute to him, and there were multiple points in the evening when Ariana started to cry.

Last night, Ariana Grande made her Sweetener World Tour stop in Pittsburgh. The show was a particularly emotional one for her, as Mac Miller was born and raised there, so the concert served as an impromptu tribute to her late ex-boyfriend.

People who went to the concert tweeted about it from start to finish, and they said the Mac tribute vibe started as soon as they got there. Before Ari took the stage, they were playing only his music in the stadium.

“At the Ariana Grande concert in pburgh and Mac’s album is playing throughout the stadium before the show <33,” one concertgoer tweeted. “At Ariana Grande’s concert in Pittsburgh and she’s playing Mac Miller before the show and I honestly might cry. Pittsburgh misses you, Mac,” another wrote.

Because it’s an Ariana concert, she couldn’t just *not* play “Thank U, Next,” but the song, which mentions Mac directly, made her so emotional you can hear her crying in the videos. The line she tried to sing was “Wish I could say thank you to Malcolm, ’cause he was an angel,” but she couldn’t even get through it.

Thankfully, her fans were there to help her.

Later in the show, she sang “Raindrops,” which many people believe is a song about Mac. That was another emotional one, too, and when she couldn’t sing anymore, her fans literally started yelling “You can do it, Ari!” to support her.

If you need me, I’ll be working my way through a box of tissues while sobbing for the rest of the day.
