Wreaths Across America has a longstanding tradition of honoring each and every fallen soldier in the Arlington National Cemetery (plus over 1,200 other locations) with a wreath during the holiday season. But this year, there might not be enough for the 400,000 tombstones of veterans.

The donation-based nonprofit is currently about 25,000 wreaths short, according to Fox News. While the organization has already received many donations, they are hoping people continue to give so that volunteers can honor every veteran with a wreath, just as they've done for 25 years, in time for Wreaths Across America Day on December 16.

"When we walk the rows of Arlington Cemetery, they're not necessarily well-known names," Wreaths Across America member Bre Kingsbury told the publication. "You know, movies haven't been ... made about their lives, books haven't been written." She added, "These are just ... hardworking, honest Americans that decided to step up and do something that was bigger than themselves. So when they make that ultimate sacrifice, we think it's time for the American people to stand up and make sure their legacy and ... their service is honored and respected."
