Only Murders in the Building is officially back for its third season. Starring Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short—plus a fresh batch of guest stars including Meryl Streep and Paul Rudd—the runaway hit promises another dose of mystery and comedy. But perhaps the biggest star of the Hulu show isn't an actor at all: It's the series's titular building given the fictional name The Arconia. That filming location is a real apartment building in New York City called The Belnord, and it's just as grand in person as it is on screen.

Built in 1908 by architectural firm Hiss and Weekes, The Belnord is located at 86th and Broadway on Manhattan’s Upper West Side and consists of 13 floors. The Italian Renaissance-style building boasts two imposing archways that lead to a private courtyard—one of the largest in all of New York City—and perfectly manicured gardens.

Prior to joining forces with fellow architect Philip Hiss, H. Hobart Weekes worked for famed architectural firm McKim, Mead & White. Together, Hiss and Weekes designed several apartment buildings and hotels throughout New York City, as well as summer residences in Long Island and the Berkshires for affluent families. In 1980, The Belnord was added to the National Register of Historic Places, and it’s also a New York City landmark.

In 2015, HFZ Capital Group purchased the building’s residences for $575 million, before giving it a sweeping update: Architect Robert A.M. Stern was tapped to renovate 95 apartments in the building, while Hollander Design revamped the central courtyard. Since then, condos in the building have sold for a grand total of more than $1.35 billion.

“For our story and our fictional Arconia, I knew we needed a home that carried enough history and elegance to hold a world of mystery and intrigue—and one that could also serve as a fitting backdrop worthy of our legendary cast," John Hoffman, co-creator of Only Murders in the Building, tells House Beautiful.

Hoffman adds that thanks to The Belnord's tenants and management, in addition to the show's locations team—which was led by Collin Smith—the filming location "surpassed all of our wildest dreams." He professes that the famed building "basically wrote itself into our show as its own central compelling character.”

We couldn't help but notice that the name bears a resemblance to The Ansonia, which one Midge Maisel may or may not have lived in.

Interested in living in the historic landmark? You’re in luck because the Belnord currently has a slew of active listings, including a five-bedroom apartment that’s listed for nearly $10.9 million. Take a look at all of the available condos here.
