In a private ceremony at Windsor Castle, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's son, Archie, will be christened in front of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's closest friends and relatives on July 6.

Though it may be that the date "July 6" was chosen for scheduling purposes only, the day actually has a connection to Princess Diana. The Princess of Wales's birthday was July 1, meaning the christening date is the same week as what would have been Princess Diana's 58th birthday.

If Harry and Meghan did intentionally pick July 6 for its proximity to Diana's birthday, it would be just one of the many ways the two have honored the late Princess of Wales. At their wedding in May 2018, the pair picked forget-me-nots, Diana's favorite flowers, from the Kensington Palace garden to include in the Duchess's bouquet. What's more, they posed for wedding photos on the same emerald-green couch that Diana once sat on for Harry's christening portraits in 1984.

Harry is just one of many eager to keep celebrating Diana on her birthday. Every year on July 1, The Diana Award organization in Britain recognizes hundreds of inspirational teens and children who take part in social action or humanitarian efforts. It's a cause that both Prince Harry and Prince William support dearly, recognizing the incredible impact their mom had on the world.

In fact, on July 6, 2004, Queen Elizabeth II opened the Princess Diana memorial fountain in London's Hyde Park. It was an emotional day of remembrance for the entire royal family.

"Her drive to empathize with those in difficulty, hardship or distress, her willingness to embrace a new cause, her shrewd ability to size up all those she met, allowed her not only to touch people's lives but to change them," the Queen said in a speech for the event. "This is her wider legacy."

And now, 15 years later to the day, her legacy continues to live on through the royal family - one that now includes little Archie.
