Now that they've stepped down from their roles as senior royals, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's first priority is building a life as a normal family, and spending time with their 9-month-old son Archie.

“Archie is the priority," a close friend of the Sussexes' told People. "It’s very much still about taking care of him and putting the family first. He’s a happy kid—he loves to laugh."

The friend added that both Harry and Meghan are relishing the opportunity to put their son first: "Archie and Harry have such a good time together. And Meghan is a great mom. She’s very much about tending to him. They are trying to live their life as regular parents.”

The couple have been "keeping a low profile" on Canada's Vancouver Island, following last month's shocking announcement that they are stepping back from royal life. “They are enjoying living a quiet life,” a source said. “They go for long walks, they do yoga, and Meghan cooks. They are real homebodies who love to chill out with Archie and the dogs.”

But despite trying to keep a low profile, the Sussexes have had a pretty busy couple of weeks, traveling to Miami for a paid speaking gig with JP Morgan, and California, to speak with Stanford professors about their new charitable organization.

It was also reported yesterday that the couple were closing their Buckingham Palace office, and laying off many of their staff members. "Given their decision to step back, an office at Buckingham Palace is no longer needed," a palace aide told ITV. "While the details are still being finalized and efforts are being made to redeploy people within the royal household, unfortunately there will be some redundancies."

Harry and Meghan will return to the UK soon to wrap up their final royal engagements, which will likely include just three or four public events, including Harry's final outing as Captain-General of the Royal Marines. Queen Elizabeth has also reportedly requested the Sussexes' presence for Commonwealth Day on March 9.
