From Town & Country

This morning, Harry and Meghan's son Archie made his first public appearance during his family's official trip to South Africa.

The royal youngster came with his parents to their meeting with Archbishop Desmond Tutu at the Desmond & Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation in Cape Town.

A video from inside the private visit shows the royal couple laughing and chatting with the Archbishop and his daughter Thandeka. In the clip above, Meghan shares that her son is already an "old soul," and Prince Harry reveals that his son is already "wanting to stand."

Tutu gave the Sussexes a basket of gifts in honor of their visit including hand-made beaded bracelets, portable lap desks from the TuTu Desk Campaign, which provides desks to underprivileged children, and a number of children's books: Desmond and the Very Mean Word, and Children's Bible Stories, both written by the Archbishop; a songbook celebrating the work of Patricia Schonstein; and a copy of The Book of Joy signed both by the Archbishop and the Dalai Lama.

He also included a pair of framed photographs of Princess Diana meeting Nelson Mandela in 1997. One of them is for Harry and the other for Prince William.

Ahead of the tour it was revealed that Harry and Meghan wanted for Archie to make a public appearance, but it was unclear when that might take place. In early September, a royal source told Victoria Murphy that "They hoped to include Archie at some point in the program. It’s just difficult to schedule because he’s five months old.” Clearly the 4-month-old cooperated this morning, but it has yet to be announced whether we'll see him again before the culmination of the visit.
