Arch Manning Ends High-Profile Recruitment, Commits to Texas

The Longhorns have officially hooked Arch Manning.

After a whirlwind recruitment period and rampant speculation, the 18-year-old has announced his commitment to Texas over Alabama and Georgia.

Arch, the nephew of legendary quarterbacks Peyton and Eli and grandson of Archie, is the top-rated quarterback recruit and top overall recruit for the class of 2023.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pound teen threw for 6,307 yards, 81 touchdowns, and rushed for 19 more scores in three seasons for Isidore Newman High School in New Orleans.

"Committed to the University of Texas. #HookEm," he revealed on social media Thursday.

Considered a once-in-a-generation talent, Arch was openly courted by the likes of Nick Saban and Kirby Smart. In the end, it was Steve Sarkisian who proved victorious.

Experts speculate that his decision to don burnt orange ultimately came down to timing. As CBS Sports' Shehan Jeyarajah points out, as a member of the 2023 class, Arch is basically guaranteed to be the starting quarterback for Texas when the Longhorns enter the SEC in 2025.

"If everything works out, Manning will have an opportunity to be a transformational talent in the vein of Johnny Manziel at Texas A&M," Jeyarajah writes. "That's something neither Alabama nor Georgia could possibly offer."
