‘Tis the season for Halloween parties at school, one of the rare times that parents get to head into the classroom to help their kids celebrate the season. Since parents are often in charge of those classroom party activities and ideas, here are a few to get the creative juices flowing.
Ghost theme–ghosts become what they’ve eaten (story+craft). Kindergarten teacher Miss Alina Bitter used this in her classroom. First, read the book called “The Ghost’s Dinner” on YouTube, before prompting the kids to engage in a similar activity. “It’s so precious,” she says.
Ghost game using cups and Nerf guns. TikTok mom Alyssa used this for her kids’ Halloween party, on a budget. You can use leftover supplies to cut out holes for small cups in a large piece of cardboard, put prizes inside, and cover the tops with tissue and ghost faces. Then shoot nerf gun bullets (not across the whole classroom, but rather pretty close up) to reveal the prizes. “I swear I’m not creative,” she writes.
Table activity with monsters and numbers. Teacher Shannon used it in her classroom for Halloween. Simply cover desks with large dark butcher paper, and you can create games with chalk, white markers, or other supplies. Try dice-related games, rolling them into ghost drawings, or get kids involved with the drawing process first. “There are so many variations to this one.”
Trick-or-treat around the school. Teacher Melissa Keller preps for PK party with easy, no-mess options for young kids.
