Apple’s New iPhone 11 Is Spawning Memes of Its Double and Triple Cameras

There was another big Apple event this week and among the major, exciting reveals was the iPhone 11. There’s plenty to love about the new iPhones — even if that $699 starter price tag might have you working an extra shift or two just to afford it (though it is cheaper than the XR from last year).

The next generation of iPhone is sleek and comes in an array of soft, pastel shades, including a minty green and purple that looks like a lilac. The size is still roughly the same, so users won’t have to worry about anything feeling different on that account. But what has been grabbing everyone’s attention is the new double- and triple-camera system, which gives the iPhone 11 a very, erm, distinct new look.

Basically, on the back of the iPhone 11 in the top-left corner, instead of the oblong oval camera shape found of the previous model, there are two lenses stacked vertically — and on the iPhone 11 Pro, there are three, making a triangle shape. Very, very quickly, the new iPhone 11 triple-camera system became its own meme. How could it not be a meme? They look like eyes, people.

Soon, Twitter was flooded with hilarious takes on what the new iPhone 11 camera looked like, with one person using a Real Housewives of Atlanta exchange to sum up the cameras perfectly and others likening it to a stovetop or Pikachu’s face…or at its worst, trypophobia.
