Apple Studios has acquired the rights to an untitled Formula 1 project. The upcoming movie will star Brad Pitt and will be directed by Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski. The film will reportedly be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and Mercedes F1 driver Sir Lewis Hamilton.

Pitt will reportedly portray a former F1 driver brought out of retirement to coach a rookie. Speculations have said it could be similar to Seven-time champion Micahel Schumacher's road to F1, alongside a younger Nico Rosberg.

The success of Netflix's Formula 1 documentary series F1: Drive to Survive has increased interest in the international racing league. It seems that Hollywood is steering into its popularity. With a budget of $140 million USD, the studios have brought in many who were involved in the recent Top Gun sequel, including writer Ehren Kruger, producer Jerry Bruckheim and Chad Omen.

Elsewhere in entertainment,an animated Ghostbusters series is on its way to Netflix.
