After much speculation, Apple has confirmed its next online event will broadcast on March 8th at 1 p.m. ET. The tech giant didn’t mention what products will be on display, although it did offer the tagline of “Peek Performance” alongside a rainbow-colored Apple logo.

Analysts have long speculated that a low-cost 5G iPhone would debut in early March. The unannounced smartphone is allegedly an updated version of the popular iPhone SE, which will boast powerful new cameras, an upgraded processor and 5G support. Apple hasn’t confirmed the existence of this so-called iPhone SE 5G – but seeing as rumors correctly predicted an early March Apple Event, it’s not a stretch to think the budget smartphone is a reality.

Apple Events almost always come with more than one product reveal, and that’ll likely hold true on March 8th. Alongside the iPhone SE 5G reveal, we could be treated to an updated iPad Air and the launch of a next-gen M2 chipset. According to a report earlier this year, production lines for the MacBook Pro M2 continued running over the Lunar New Year holiday to hit its goal of a reveal in March and subsequent launch.

While the iPhone SE continues to be one of the most popular budget phones on the market, Apple has seen fierce competition from OnePlus, TCL, Motorola and Google over the past few years. The iPhone SE retails for just $400 – although you can pick up the Google Pixel 5a with 5G for an extra $50. If the iPhone SE 5G is real, expect it to launch at a highly competitive price point.
