The holidays are the busiest time of year for travel, and the season’s chaos will inevitably lead to lost luggage. To help avoid that and afford some peace of mind, item trackers like Apple’s AirTag allow users to keep tabs on their belongings. Amazon is offering a rare discount of 19% off a four-pack of Apple’s AirTag, providing an affordable solution to travelers needing to keep track of their keys, a backpack, or a laptop.

The AirTag is a small coin-shaped item tracker that helps find items through Apple’s Find My app. What’s clever about the solution is AirTag can tap into the brand’s vast Find My network — a billion users strong, according to Apple. When a nearby iPhone detects the Bluetooth signals from a lost AirTag, it can relay the location back to its owner. The user who lost the AirTag can then see where it is in the Find My app, even if it’s halfway across the world. Everything is done in the background, anonymously and privately, Apple says.

AirTag also supports Precision Finding, a feature that can show users where an AirTag is when it’s in range of their iPhone. Say your dad frequently misplaces his car keys at home: the Find My app can show him their precise location (probably in his jacket pocket in the closet), so long as an AirTag is attached. Each AirTag offers an ingress protection rating of IP67, meaning it’s splash-, water-, and dust-resistant. The tracker also uses those replaceable little coin batteries (the CR2032 lithium 3V kind), which Apple estimates will keep it running for more than a year.

While the AirTag boasts impressive tracking capabilities, it lacks a built-in attachment system. That means you’ll need an additional accessory to attach an AirTag to keys, a wallet, or a laptop. Luckily, there’s no shortage of them available, from keychain loops to card cases and even dog collars (for the pooch who likes to explore). Of course, an AirTag can easily fit into the pocket of a bag or piece of luggage.

My AirTag has proven to be an invaluable investment over the years, helping me locate my misplaced keys on more than one occasion. For the forgetful person in your life, an AirTag makes for a thoughtful and practical stocking stuffer. While you can save on this four-pack, a single AirTag is also modestly discounted at Amazon.
