Apparently Prince William And Kate Middleton Made A Marriage Pact Back In 2007
Back when Prince William and Kate were dating in 2007, they made a pact to get married in the future.
(Not) Surprise(d): It actually worked!
For those of you convinced that Prince William and Kate Middleton have been married for 5ever, I am here to let you know that yes, it is completely by design! In 2007, Will and Kate said to hell with it and made a formal pact to tie the knot, and would you look at that—they’re still happily married more than a decade later!
In royal correspondent Katie Nicholl’s book, Kate: The Future Queen, she revealed that Will and Kate discussed marriage while they were still dating to take the pressure off of themselves and make sure they’d spend the rest of their lives together. (Sidebar: I sincerely hope my boyfriend is taking notes!)
“There on the paradise island, William promised Kate that he was in the relationship for the long term,” Katie wrote. “For the very first time, they talked seriously about marriage, and with the ocean before them and beneath the night sky, they made a pact to marry.”
Will and Kate actually broke up after making that hefty promise to one another, but hey, they got back together shortly afterward. They had to see that pact to the end!
“We were both very young,” Will later said. “It was at university. We were sort of both finding ourselves as such and being different characters and stuff, it was very much trying to find our own way and we were growing up.”
After getting back together, Will and Kate dated for three more years before Will popped the question in 2010. A year later, Will and Kate got married and Kate formally became the Duchess of Cambridge. Three babies and eight years of marriage later, Will and Kate are still living out their happily ever after.
Guess a marriage pact really is the way to go—sorry, boyfriend, I don’t make the rules!
