Apparently Jonathan Scott Hates This Part of Every Property Brothers Episode
It happens in every episode of HGTV's Property Brothers: Drew Scott (the real estate broker) brings an excited couple into a home that has everything on their checklist. But there's a catch - it's way above their price range. The future homeowners are rightfully disappointed (to say the least), which is why Jonathan Scott (the renovation master) calls this part of the show the "Drew jerk part."
"I'm just trying to bring people out of the clouds and show them that they've got to be realistic," Drew justified on NPR's radio quiz show, Wait Wait . . . Don't Tell Me!. But Jonathan doesn't buy it: "If Drew had a hairless cat that he could pet while doing that ... he would!" While we wouldn't go as far as to compare Drew to Dr. Evil, we are always shocked by how surprised the guests appear when they find out they've been duped. It's almost as if they've never watched the show before.
The brothers then went on to reveal some of the more horrifying things they've found once they've moved onto the renovation part of the show, including petrified rats and a hairy situation with a dead raccoon. (There's also unexpected finds on the slightly less shocking side, like an antique Playboy collection.) These surprising discoveries certainly keep the show action-packed, but it's comforting to know we can always rely on the "Drew jerk part" to keep us on our toes, too.
