Ever wish you could make your own headboard? It's not just a pipe dream. It's something you can actually do! That's what Pinterest user mollyelizabethharris did, and she has all the deets about what she did to bring it to life. And you might be shocked at what she used to kickstart the project: $1 pine dog ear fence picket that came out to just $12 all together! Of course, there were other supplies involved, but those were at the heart of this stunning project!

With a budget of $150, she got started on her headboard, which only came out to $136. When she was done, she had a king-sized upholstered headboard for $14 under budget! She used the dog ear fence picket, 5 yards of fabric, 3 packs-in-1 foam, and 5 yards of quilt backing. As far as tools, she used a saw, drill and screws, a staple gun and staples, and scissors.

She lined out every step she made to bring this headboard to life on her website, and it seems like a good weekend build to finish. That's about how long it took her to do, and she's never upholstered anything in her life. And now, she's got a nice, plush, comfortable place for her and her husband to lay in bed at night enjoying a glass of wine and watching their favorite shows.

So if you need a headboard but don't want to spend an arm and a leg for one, consider following this easy tutorial! You never know, you just might come away with a new appreciation for something you've not tried before...quite possibly like upholstering something, like she did.
