This App Helps You Find a Nursing or Pumping Room Wherever You Are
Breastfeeding in public may be completely normal, healthy and necessary, but that doesn’t mean that it’s always easy. Especially in summer, when all you really want is someplace that’s clean and cool.
Fortunately, women-owned start-up and makers of freestanding lactation suites Mamava has the solution. Introducing the Mamava app, which locates and unlocks Mamava pods in public places and helps you find more than 2,000 other pumping-friendly locations. (Because an icky public bathroom is just not OK.)
You can find Mamava pods in more than 450 destinations across the country, including airports, malls, sports stadiums, schools and zoos. But if you don’t happen to have one nearby, then the app helpfully lets you know where you can go to nurse or pump in privacy and comfort.
We tried it in our New York City midtown office and found five public nursing-friendly spots within a one-mile radius (including a highly-rated nursing room at Buy Buy Baby with three rocking chairs and two changing tables), plus one Mamava pod.
The clever app also offers guided lactation meditations and lets you create breastfeeding goals as well as add photos of your adorable mini to help with letdown while you’re pumping. Genius.
