Here's Your New York Men's Fashion Week Recap
In case you were so busy with New York women's fashion week that you forgot to tune into men's, here’s your run down of what transpired (and some looks meant for the boys that I wore regardless).
The week started out with fresh perspectives from emerging designers at the biannual New York Men’s Day. French New Wave Cinema met Ugly American Syndrome at David Hart, workwear met western-wear at Krammer & Stoudt, and uptown high-fashion met downtown streetwear somewhere on the subway at DIPLOMACY. Most commendable designer: Krammer & Stoudt, whose incredible collection was worn by an equally incredible cast of male, female and non-binary models.
Over the following few days Cadillac House - the innovative showroom, art studio, coffee house, and retail lab - opened its doors in partnership with the Council of Fashion Designers of America. This year, SuitSupply, Title of Work, Abasi Rosborough, Gustav von Aschenbach by Robert Geller, N-P-Elliot and Landlord all transformed the space to reflect their collections. Most memorable? Abasi Rosborough’s recycled deadstock fabrics foraged from New York City warehouses and LANDLORD’s non-conformist punk bend.
Long days were followed by long nights. Headliners included Tom Ford (who showed menswear for the first time in the Big Apple) and Raf Simons. Other nighttime notables included Palmiers du Mal designer, Shane Fonner, who set a favorable mood of “opium parlor in paradise” and Grungy Gentleman designer, Jace Lipstein, who had an all-star cast of athlete models including NFL Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Darelle Revis, Seattle Seahawks strong safety Kam Chancellor, New York Giants running back Wayne Gallman, and Dallas Cowboys cornerback Nolan Carroll. Who doesn't love a good sports x fashion moment?
