The Voice entered the Live Playoffs this week and maintaining a spot on the NBC reality show is becoming increasingly more challenging for the remaining contestants. Tuesday night's episode began with 24 artists and by the end of the show, the pool of talent was cut nearly in half.

These eliminations forced the coaches to make some difficult decisions, and The Voice veteran Adam Levine seemed to struggle the most. As four of his team members stood in front of him, waiting to hear which of them would be saved, Adam delivered a speech about how hard it was to choose from the talented group:

It's almost like at this point in the competition it's just too early to make these types of decisions. You know, you keep whittling away and then over time it gets to this moment and then all of a sudden, once you've finally gotten to this great group...it's just brutal. I think that all four of you guys have so much more to do and so much more to offer so it makes this decision impossible, as Blake said, and kinda unfair, because we'd be unfairly judging you guys in a moment when I truly believe it's not the time for that.

After his emotional monologue, Adam spent a few moments hemming and hawing-and literally grunting-before acknowledging that he had to make a decision.

"I'm gonna go with the person that I think. . .there's more that I need to see from this person and I can't leave it to the unknown. I can't say, 'What if?'" Adam explained. "I'm gonna go with Tyke."

We can only imagine how difficult next week is going to be for the distraught coach!

The Voice airs Monday and Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
