'This Is Us' Revealed How Jack Pearson Died
Um, so let's talk about what just happened in the final moments of the This Is Us season two premiere. Sure, we were told that a huge piece of the puzzle would be revealed tonight, but I honestly was not expecting this. We now pretty much know how Jack Pearson died.
Fans have long theorized that Jack died in a fire, and judging by the horrifying final shot of this episode, they were correct. After a conversation between Jack and Rebecca in which he admits that he's relapsed, and she promises to help him, we cut abruptly to a shot of Randall and Kate – several weeks or months later – crying, clearly having just received the news of Jack's death.
"We have to find Kev," Kate tells Randall, in between sobs, "he has to hear it from me." Earlier in the episode, we learned that Kate was indeed the one to tell her twin that their dad was dead, which is some pretty unimaginable trauma for a 17-year-old girl.
Cut to Rebecca, sitting in the driver seat of her car in the dark. As she lets out a an anguished scream, we pan up to reveal the gutted, burned-out shell of the Pearson house, cordoned off by yellow caution tape.
... I'm not okay. Not. At. All.
