Dressing for weddings, like Princess Eugenie's upcoming nuptials, is a particular challenge for the Duchess of Cambridge. Kate needs to look appropriate and stylish, but she doesn't want to overshadow the bride, which is easier said than done as the future Queen of England.

This morning, she arrived in Windsor at Princess Eugenie's wedding, wearing a rich pink dress by Alexander McQueen. She paired the look with a hat by Philip Treacy.

When Kate has attended weddings in the past, she's stuck to a sartorial uniform of sorts: a colored coat dress with coordinating accessories, making today a bit of a break from tradition.

In fact, Kate re-wore one of her favorite looks just earlier this summer while attending the wedding of her close friend, Sophie Carter. The Duchess wore a vibrant blue coat dress by Catherine Walker, the same one which she was originally seen wearing while on a royal tour of Poland and Germany last year.

In May at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Kate also followed her coat dress "uniform," choosing a pale yellow wool ensemble by Alexander McQueen. She completed her look with a matching Philip Treacy hat and Jimmy Choo heels.

Before Harry and Meghan's wedding, we asked some of our favorite royals influencers for their predictions as to what Kate might wear to her brother-in-law's big day, and their guesses weren't too far off.

"Elegant coat dresses are the go-to style for attending a royal wedding," a source from What Would Kate Do? shared. Tom and Lorenzo added, "She won't want to compete with the bride, nor will she want the press to have any reason to think she tried to."
