'SNL': Trump slaps back after Alec Baldwin mocks his national emergency news conference

Alec Baldwin reprised his impression of President Donald Trump on this weekend's "Saturday Night Live" in the NBC show's opening sketch, a play on Friday's news conference from the White House Rose Garden, which drew criticism.

Trump, who defended his decision to declare a national emergency to help build his border wall between the U.S. and Mexico, has long described the situation on the Southwest border as a "crisis" and an "invasion."

"I could do the wall over a longer period of time. I didn't need to do this," Trump said, shortly before he signed a proclamation declaring the emergency. "But I'd rather do it much faster."

Saturday, Baldwin's commander-in-chief divulged "many nights in the grotto" after taking a question from a Playboy magazine reporter (Mikey Day), had a standoff with CNN's Jim Acosta (played by Kyle Mooney), and even answered a "girl one" (question).

He gave a memorable introduction to Attorney General William Barr (Beck Bennett).

"Congratulations, this guy's gonna do such a great job," Baldwin's Trump said. "But still, he's working for me so I give him three months, tops. Dead man walking right there."

"So I'm gonna sign these papers for emergency, then I'll immediately be sued," Baldwin's Trump said. "And the ruling will not go in my favor, and then end up in the Supreme Court, and then I'll call my buddy (Brett) Kavanaugh, and I'll say, 'It's time to repay the Donny,' and he'll say, 'New phone, who dis?' "

The president weighed in Sunday morning on Twitter: "Nothing funny about tired Saturday Night Live on Fake News NBC! Question is, how do the Networks get away with these total Republican hit jobs without retribution? ... This is the real Collusion!"

"THE RIGGED AND CORRUPT MEDIA IS THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE!" he said.

"Trump whines. The parade moves on. #resignalready," Baldwin replied on @ABFalecbaldwin, the Twitter account for the Hilaria and Alec Baldwin Foundation.

Added the ACLU: "It's called the First Amendment."
