'NCIS' Just Announced Who Is Replacing Pauley Perette
Last year, fans were shocked when Pauly Perette announced she was leaving her role on the CBS show NCIS. Perette had played forensic specialist Abby Sciuto since the series' premiere in 2003, and her final appearance on the season 15 episode, "Two Steps Back," devastated the NCIS audience.
While Perette's character did hint at a possible return ― Abby says "It’s not goodbye for good, it’s goodbye for now" in her final episode ― the team at NCIS has recently announced who will replace her.
Diona Reasonover was first brought on the show in season 15 episode "One Man's Trash." The actress played recurring character Kasie Hines, Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard's graduate assistant who also has a degree in forensic science. She even had a few scenes alongside Abby.
After Abby's departure, Kasie was asked to fill in for her temporarily until a permanent replacement for the forensic specialist was found. Now, as Deadline reports, that temporary replacement is now permanent. Reasonover has been bumped up from recurring character to series regular for the upcoming 16th season of NCIS.
Reasonover isn't new to the CBS scene, though. She wrote and performed in the 2014 CBS Diversity Showcase and was the head writer for the network's performance in 2015. The Oberlin College alumna has also appeared on CBS show 2 Broke Girls, as well as other series like Clipped, Girl Meets World, and Superstore.
And while a lot of fans are sad about Perette's departure, calling her irreplaceable, others are saying Reasonover would be a good fit.
