I'm a 29-Year-Old Woman and I Want to Wear All of Tan France's Outfits on ‘Queer Eye’

Would it shock you that I binged season three of Queer Eye in a single sitting? Who am I kidding—you probably did too. And while this season had me shedding more tears than the last two combined, I was most moved by the outfits—and I’m not talking about what resident fashion guru, Tan France, dressed the heroes in. I’m talking about his personal outfits.

Yes, I am an almost-30-year-old-woman. Yes, my style icon is a 35-year-old British man. And while Jonathan Van Ness might be a more obvious choice (he rocks dresses and platform heels like no one else), I just can’t help obsessing over Tan’s comfy basics. So I’m breaking down his most wearable outfits of the season below.

Episode One: Gray Sweatshirt + Relaxed Jeans + Off-White Belt

In the opening episode, the Fab Five help a hunting-loving prison guard, Jody Castellucci, to feel good about herself again. There’s no denying how amazing Jody’s transformation was, both inside and out, but it’s this sweatshirt-and-jeans outfit I’m most feeling. I love how Tan cinched it (just as I would a sweater) to give it that little extra polish.

Episode Two: Tee + Sweat Shorts + Chunky Sneakers

Episode two brought the Fab Five back to their camp days while making over hero and camp director, Joey Greene. Leave it to Tan to show up dressed for the part in his best athleisure alongside one of spring’s biggest trends: tone-on-tone neutrals. And while I’m not the hugest fan of chunky sneakers, he’s really making a case for them here. Because clothing is often less expensive in the men’s department, that’s exactly where I headed to copy the look.

Episode Four: White Tee + Long Denim Shorts + Flannel

If you didn’t know that Tan is a hoola-hoop pro, well, now you do... If you also didn’t know it was possible to rock a flannel outside of PSL season, well now you know that, too. One of my favorite things about Tan’s outfits is how simple they are. I’m a person who snoozes my alarm four times, so having simple formulas, like this one, is my saving grace. I’ll swap out the denim shorts for bike shorts when I’m feeling ~extra~ trendy.

Get the look: Eileen Fisher tee ($68); Hudson Jeans shorts ($165); Levi’s shirt ($33)

Episode Eight: Matching Suit + White Trainers

Coordinating suits are a staple in men’s wardrobes, but the way Tan styles his is what pushes my shopping buttons. In the final episode of season three, he tones down an otherwise dressy look by pairing his suit with a T-shirt and white sneakers. Now, imagine this with a deep side part and a few pearl hair clips—need I say more?

Get the look: Reiss pants ($245); Reiss jacket ($380); Adidas trainers ($80)
