You'll Never Believe How Many Times People Watched ‘The Christmas Chronicles’ on Netflix

Last year it was A Christmas Prince. This year, it’s The Christmas Chronicles that’s making viewers press “watch again” over and over.

During a recent conference in New York, Ted Sarandos (aka the content chief of Netflix) revealed the newly released holiday movie is receiving an overwhelmingly positive response. In fact, subscribers watched the film 20 million times during its first week on the streaming service alone, according to Variety. Just let that sink in.

The Christmas Chronicles premiered on November 22 and stars Kurt Russell, Oliver Hudson, Kimberly Williams-Paisley and Darby Camp. (You know, Chloe Mackenzie from Big Little Lies.) According to Sarandos, the cast is thrilled about how well the movie is being received.

“[Russell] never had as many people see one of his movies in the first week ever,” Sarandos said.  “Being able to offer this collective audience, in a big way that scales, that differentiates us.”

Just wait until the numbers roll in for A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding. We have a feeling that’s when the real fun will begin.
