This Is What's Inside Fortnum and Mason’s Incredible $7,000 Christmas Basket
It's that time again: Fortnum and Mason's iconic Christmas wicker baskets are back!
The Fortnum's hamper tradition started in the 1730s and although the parcels of provisions are available all year round, they are most popular during Christmas shopping season. There are 10 hampers to choose from in the range this year and when it comes to the most impressive, the Imperial takes the title.
Priced at £6,000 (which is $7,800 USD), it's the brand’s most decadent food and drink gift. With well over 80 items included, it's designed to set the lucky recipient up for the entire festive period (and into the new year).
As you might expect with this kind of price tag, the Imperial hamper is all about luxury. Among the nine bottles of wine and spirits are vintage Champagnes by Krug and Dom Ruinart, plus a Dow Vintage port from 1985.
On the food front, Beluga Caviar and smoked salmon are packed alongside Glenarm Salt Aged Beef, a whole Christmas ham and 11 of Fortnum's condiments and preserves. There are nuts, cheeses, teas and Christmas coffee, but it's the sweet treats that make up a large proportion of the contents. They include a stollen log, pistachio and clotted cream biscuits, flapjacks, Florentines and a festive classic - a chocolate selection box.

As no Christmas table would be complete without them, crackers, table bombs and a Fortnum’s chef hat and apron are also tucked inside. Edible goodies aside, there’s also a Fortnum’s tea set, plus items from the store’s Pomegranate and Rose beauty collection.
For something a little less extravagant, the smaller hamper's in the range are considerably cheaper, starting at £60 for the Merrymaker's. New this year is the £150 Winter Warmer, which features everything you need to make mulled wine or hot chocolate, and the £225 Cocktail Hamper, made with party season in mind.
