Here's Exactly How to Add GIFs to Your Instagram Stories
Instagram users, rejoice: A new function is now available on Instagram Stories that will make your posts way more dynamic. Starting today, you can add GIFs to your Story, which means your eye-roll posts could now feature a sticker of Regina George rolling her eyes in Mean Girls. How iconic is that?
"Now, Instagram users can add vibrant, animated GIF stickers to any photo or video and immediately turn any moment into something fun and sharable," a rep for Instagram tells Glamour. "No matter how your readers are looking to express themselves, Instagrammers everywhere will now be able to use GIFs in Stories to celebrate fun moments, share cute puppies and, of course, give the occasional eye roll. Users will be able to browse what's trending in pop culture or search for a sticker to match any moment."
But that's not the only update coming to Instagram Stories: Over the next few weeks, the platform is rolling out a feature allowing users to add photos of any size to their Stories. Because we've all been there, right? You take a great photo, crop it, and then realize it looks totally wonky when you upload it to Instagram Stories. Now that problem's about to be a thing of the past. Bless up.
Back to the new GIF sticker feature, though. Here's how to add GIFs to your Story:
Make sure you're on the latest version of the Instagram app.
Force quit the Instagram app and reopen.
Swipe right from feed or tap the icon on the top left to open the camera.
Capture a photo or video, and you should see a smiley face icon at the top, next to the drawing and text tools.
Tap the smiley face icon.
Tap the sticker marked by an animated GIF.
Choose any sticker from the trending page or use the search bar to find a GIF sticker to perfectly match any moment. You can add as many stickers as you want, and move and resize them.
