UPDATE January 28, 2020: Okay Mirror fans, time for some more good news. In partnership with Lululemon, Mirror just launched two new classes—meditation with wellness coach and author Gabby Bernstein, and Power Yoga with Baron Baptiste.

Bernstein's meditation classes are available in 5-, 15-, and 30-minute sessions through the Mirror app. Members can see exactly how the sessions are affecting their bodies using The Mirror's heart rate tracking tool and new breath tracker tool.

UPDATE October 8, 2019: As if there weren't already enough reasons be intrigued by Mirror, the wall mirror that doubles as a screen and allows you to do hundreds of on-demand workouts right from home, the brand announced a new feature that's going to change your workout routine. As of this morning, Mirror is now offering one-on-one personal training sessions.

Thanks to Mirror's two-way audio and video capabilities, customers can now schedule real-time workouts with the best trainers across the country, no matter where you live. For $40 a session, you can workout with a personal trainer and receive individualized feedback, form corrections, and of course, encouragement. You can even have roommates or family members join in on the session for no additional cost. Pretty sweet, right?

So what do you have to do to get access to Mirror's new personal training sessions? If you already have Mirror, nothing! The Mirror was originally developed with personal training sessions in mind, so your model is up-to-date and ready to use—just book your session in the Mirror app. If you don't have Mirror yet, this might be the time to convert. For $1,495 you'll receive your mirror, a bluetooth heart rate monitor, resistance bands, and a wall mount. Access to the brand's massive library of on-demand workouts is an additional $39 per month.

ORIGINAL STORY September, 27:

When it comes to smart technology, there are two key types: There's the category catered to lazy people who need Alexa to turn out the lights when they don't want to get out of bed (no shade, I get it), then there's stuff for the people who actually move.

Possibly the latest and greatest member of the second category is the Mirror, which takes your standard home decor item and turns it into serious fitspiration.

It's Not Just Any Mirror, It's A Workout Mirror.

The Mirror isn't just your classic reflector meant for checking yourself out—though it allows you to do that when it's off, too— it's so much more. As the "world's first invisible, interactive home gym featuring live and on-demand fitness classes," this mirror makes at-home workouts both possible no matter the size of your home and fun.

With a Mirror membership, you'll have access to a constantly growing library of cardio, strength, yoga, barre, Pilates, boxing, and more classes. The best part? Though you'll be in the privacy of your own home, you won't feel alone—your virtual instructor will provide live instructions and motivate you along the way. You can also train with other MIRROR members live, sync your heart rate via a Bluetooth monitor or Apple Watch, and use the surround sound to blast music.

How Much Does It Cost?

With a price tag of $1,495 for the Mirror, not including a $39/month subscription fee, it's definitely an investment piece. But, of course, the convenience of an at-home workout for up to five people (with no additional cost for having friends join in your live classes)—not to mention one that's fun—makes it pretty worthwhile.

Plus, when you factor in the cost of other luxe mirrors—like the $1,300 Anthropologie find bloggers everywhere seem to be obsessed with—as well as your monthly gym membership and classes, and the inconvenient trek to said gym, it may tip the scales in the MIRROR's favor.

The Reviews Are In...

And it's an instant 5 out of 5, according to all reviewers. Granted, it's hard to find reviews of the product outside of the brand's own website—it is a new launch, after all—and there are only 14 total, so take them with a grain of salt. Still, some who have provided testimonials say it's changed their lives.

"Not only am I in better shape than ever before, it has made me do more all-around fitness training," wrote Yvo in a review. "I have always been a cardio guy, however since I started using the Mirror, [I] am into Pilates, Boot Camp, Barre, etc. The biggest and best surprise, however, has been that training has become a family occasion. My daughters love to jump in and out, and it has gotten them into fitness as well."
