Here's How You Could Be On HGTV's 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' Reboot

July is here, and that means we’re one month closer to the premiere of the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition reboot on HGTV. With Modern Family's Jesse Tyler Ferguson officially named as the show’s host and Ty Pennington only sending his best, it’s time to start looking for the next era of families whose lives are changed with words "move that bus." (Well, assuming JTF keeps that catchphrase.)

True to the original show's DNA, the reboot is looking for families with a powerful, heart-wrenching story-people who have overcome huge odds, "who continue to give back to their communities, despite the personal challenges they face," and aren't able to renovate their homes themselves, according to a statement by HGTV.

Although fans of the original long-running show know what to expect from the reboot (of course, a bus), HGTV is bringing it back with a refreshing idea of who can appear on it, which goes beyond being an established homeowner.

“In a new twist, the revived series is expanding its search for participants beyond current homeowners looking to remodel their home-and is encouraging renters and people interested in relocation to apply,” the network wrote.

That’s right-if you’re currently a renter, you’re more than welcome to apply to be on the show, but they note that if chosen, your new home may be in a different part of the city where you live.

Submit your family through the appropriate application, which asks for every family member’s social media pages, what makes your family’s situation unique, and what are the top five repairs needing immediate attention. It also has a section where you can upload up to two optional videos: one introducing your family to producers, and one giving a tour of your home.

You can also nominate a deserving family through a separate application, which asks how they've inspired you, how they’ve impacted their community, and how your life would be different without this family’s presence.
