Here's How Coachella Is Becoming More Mom-Friendly

We know moms are no strangers to the music festival scene (hey, just because you've had a kid doesn't mean you stop leaving the house!). But as a new mama, it can be tricky to do a weekend-long festival when you've got a tiny human to care for. Thankfully, California's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival has various amenities available for mamas.

According to the Coachella website, the main medical tents are B.Y.O.P (Bring Your Own Pump). Moms should feel free to privately pump in the tents – and they can even use electric pumps, since AC power is available. Washing stations with soap and sanitizing wipes ensure everything stays hygienic, while refrigerators and freezers keep breast milk fresh.

This isn’t Coachella’s first initiative catering to breastfeeding moms. In 2017, the festival had a designated mobile pumping station and breastfeeding salon. Brought to the Coachella by fashion platforms FabKids and JustFab, in partnership with breast milk delivery service Milk Stork, it provided 72-hour refrigeration units for mamas who wanted to pump, then party. The Fab Mom Lounge also offered double electric breast pumps, hands-free pumping bras, nursing covers, lactation cookies, and more.

Maggie Dawkins, VP of merchandising and production for FabKids, said in a press release, "Coachella draws thousands to the desert every spring, but we can't forget about moms. The FabMom Lounge is designed to bring a clean and comfortable space to new parents who need a break from the fest to chill out and reenergize." She also added that moms could use the space however they like, whether it’s pumping, charging their phones, or calling home to check in.

We’re glad that tired, breastfeeding or pumping, or pregnant moms who will be attending the cultural phenomenon known as Coachella have somewhere to recharge. And who knows what other mom-friendly amenities will come to the festival in the future?
