If you ever thought the waitstaff and butlers in a hotel are judging you, you would be absolutely right. Bloomberg sent an undercover reporter to the Plaza (kind of; the Plaza knew who he was), to find out what it’s like to work as a butler for the .01 percent. And the results are kind of amazing. Here are our favorite little nuggets we learned from the story.

1) It is common practice among the rich to book two rooms in the hotel. One for you and one for your luggage.

2) Guests often request the butlers draw them baths - and then stay with them while they take it. One man in a hotel in London even requested that the oysters be placed around him as he soaked in the tub.

3) Butlers know what guests want based on where they’re coming from. Guests from Asia, for example, like teapots so they can cook noodles they brought from home.

4) The hotel is your personal wastebasket: The butlers once kept finding lobster shells in the fountain of the hotel’s courtyard. It turned out they were from a Middle Eastern Prince, who would order lobsters and then throw them out the window into the fountain.

5) There must always be Kleenex: One woman was crying hysterically because her daughter was forced to use toilet paper to blow her nose when the room had run out of Kleenex.

6) Butlers constantly carry condoms around for guests - especially in the evening hours.

7) Butlers are ready to deliver any weird item under the sun: a live tarantula to be eaten as a meal, two liters of intravenous saline solution to treat a hangover, and a completely new set of furniture in a suite, because the guest didn’t like the color blue.

8) You can get banned from the Plaza if you misbehave (see: Charlie Sheen).

9) Even adults like bedtime stories. Like the group of 30-year-olds who requested a butler come and read “Eloise” to them as they snuggled in bed.
