Here's Another Creepy AF Trailer For The New "Purge" TV Series
Now spanning four movies-The Purge, The Purge: Anarchy, The Purge: Election Year, and The First Purge-The Purge film franchise has developed its dystopic narrative from its home invasion thriller roots to an exploration of the sociocultural and political dynamics that brought the whole night of legalized crime/mayhem/terror to fruition.
Each movie has focused on a particular group's survival story (or not-survival, in some cases) as "Purge Night" plays out, though on an increasingly 'grander' scale. And a forthcoming TV series from USA Network promises to up the ante even further by weaving multiple, seemingly separate narratives together.
And at Comic Con over the weekend, an extended trailer for the 10-episode series-titled simply The Purge like the OG movie-debuted. It will leave you screaming! While giving nothing concrete away in terms of characters or deaths (well, beyond the fact that people will die because "Purge Night" is a nightmare), the series appears to focus on another of those bad, bad, very bad rich folk Purge galas, a Purge Night amusement park (or is it a maze, eek?) and also an office full of folks forced to work through the night, which seems like a crime even though all crime is technically legal.
There's also some folks boning, just because, and a busload of Purge devotees seemingly prepared to offer themselves as sacrifices on the big night? I mean, I'd spent my Purge Night stealing fondant but different folks, different strokes!
Oh, and of fucking course there's a horrible new homicidal person in a mask to make you pee a little bit at the 1:20 mark. It's a bunny mask, but not cute in the least.
The Purge is set to premiere on USA on September 4th.
