The world is still reeling at the loss of Matthew Perry, after the Friends star was found unresponsive in the hot tub of his Los Angeles home on Saturday afternoon. In an effort to make sense of the tragedy, fans are scrutinizing the last photos and social media post of the late actor, and a former costar likewise shared the last text exchange they shared a week before Perry's death.

Actress Ione Sky—who's best known for Cameron Crowe's 1989 teen comedy-drama Say Anything...—shared a brief text exchange with Perry to Instagram on Sunday.

"Hi! I hope all is well. I was meditating (I meditate now) and 'In Your Eyes' started playing," Perry wrote, referring to the classic hit Peter Gabriel song from the film. "And I instantly thought of how beautiful you are."

"Awe. I love that. Xo," she replied, to which he responded, "Hope you are healthy and happy." Syke then told Perry that it was nice to hear from him and that she only had nice memories of their time together. "Me too. That one afternoon, I was just sitting in my apartment, and there you were!" he followed up.

"My last exchange a week ago," she wrote in the post. "I’m very very sad. Loved this guy."

Skye and Perry had appeared together in the actor's film debut, the 1988 coming-of-age drama A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon. River Phoenix and Meredith Salenger also starred in the film.

An autopsy on Perry has since been conducted, but the cause of death for now remains "deferred" pending a full toxicology report, which could take weeks to complete. Given his past struggles with alcohol and substance abuse, many are fearing the worst, though no drugs were found at the scene.

Perry was just 54 when he died.
