Anya Taylor-Joy Will Host the Season Finale of 'Saturday Night Live'

It's been a big year for Anya Taylor-Joy.

The actress, who recently won a Golden Globe for her leading role in the acclaimed Netflix miniseries The Queen's Gambit, will soon be able to add "Saturday Night Live host" to her growing list of accomplishments. The comedy showcase announced today that Taylor-Joy will host the finale of its 46th season, with Lil Nas X on board as the musical guest. The episode will air on May 22.

On Twitter, Lil Nas X hinted that he would be performing "Montero," one of his recent hit singles, and a "new song."

But before the unlikely duo take the iconic stage, Emmy winner Keegan-Michael Key will host the week prior on May 15. Viral "Driver's License" singer Olivia Rodrigo has been recruited as that week's musical guest.

For ELLE's May 2021 cover story, Taylor-Joy revealed that she nearly quit acting in 2019 because of "some emotional relationship stuff."

"At the beginning of 2019, I was just really broken and frightened of everything," she said. She recalled coming back from a rehearsal of Emma, Autumn de Wilde's 2020 adaptation of the Jane Austen novel, with her costar Mia Goth. "I turned to her and said, 'I think I'm going to quit acting. I don't think I can do this.' And I've never seen Mia look so worried in my life. She was like, 'But … that's what you do. You can't not … what are you talking about?' I was like, 'I think I need to back out now and just let it be and try to take care of my heart.' And she was like, 'No, that would be really bad. You can't not have the thing that is your oxygen.' I'm really glad she said that."

This year, Taylor-Joy snagged two Golden Globe nominations for her roles in Emma and The Queen's Gambit (the latter of which she won). Her work on The Queen's Gambit also earned her a Screen Actors Guild Award.
