We’ve all been spending plenty of time at home in recent months, so it's safe to say we may be getting a little sick of our surroundings. If you're looking to switch things up, one of the easiest ways to do it is with spray paint. Below, we show how to give new life to an old mirror using a hot pink paint. Not a pink fan? No worries—no matter the color you choose, this fun DIY project will give any room some extra flair with a mirror that can’t be found anywhere else.

Supplies:

  • Mirror (since you'll be painting it, you don't need a super high quality one—in fact, this is a great use for a chipped or stained mirror rescued from a flea market or tag sale)

  • Cardboard or paper

  • Gloves

  • Mask

  • Plastic bags

  • Tape

  • Scissors

  • Sand paper

  • A brush

  • Spray paint

Step 1: Apply cardboard (or paper) to the mirror with tape.

This will ensure that no paint gets onto the mirror.

Step 2: Sand the mirror frame and brush off any dust.

Before you begin spray painting, lightly sand the mirror frame to make sure that the paint will adhere better.

Step 3: Spray paint the mirror frame.

Use any color you want, but make sure you do this step outside and wear a mask and gloves. And don't forget to place plastic bags underneath the mirror to avoid making a mess.
