Anthony Mackie Just Revealed How Much Longer He Can See Himself Playing Captain America

Marvel's The Falcon and the Winter Soldier ended with Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson taking up the mantle of Captain America, but before he got there, he wrestled with the enormity of being the first Black man to wield the shield.
In an interview with the real-life US Air Force's highest-ranking Black general, Charles Q Brown Jr, for Variety about the importance of fictional and real Black heroic figures, Mackie discussed how long he can see himself in the role.

"I definitely don't want to be a 55-year-old Captain America," he said. "So I've got a solid six to eight [years] in me."
Speaking about how he personally finds his role important, Mackie stated: "Having family members, friends who have served and come back, that's something that has always been important to me – showing soldiers in a respectful human light.

"Sometimes I meet people like General Brown, and I'm like, 'That guy's not a human being, he's a rock star', and you forget they're actual humans and place them in a light where they're not allowed to be. So that's something that's always been important to me – bringing humanity to the aspect of being a soldier."
Mackie recently said that he is currently doing his workout regime to stay in Avenging shape, which makes us wonder if he's going to be filming for the Black Panther sequel.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is streaming exclusively on Disney+.
